Hockey Dad's Being Extra Nice to Each Other
Monday, January 28, 2002 - Windsor, Ontario
At the local hockey rink this evening, during the 13 to 15 year old boys hockey match between the Windsor Central Wind and the West Windsor Wings, hockey Dads were being especially nice.
"Usually people get really mad when the stupid ref makes stupid calls," said one Dad, "but tonight everyone is being so nice. I think the worst the ref has been called was a 'douche bag'. It's pretty weird."
It is unclear whether the recently implemented 'zero tolerance for bad behaviour' policy of the league has caused this effect. Since the policy was implemented, three Dads have been removed from games, but were allowed to come back in once they calmed down.
"This is driving me nuts," said another Dad, "I really want to get up and scream my head off to the coach. He's really screwing up defense. But, I really want to stay in the arena, so I'm keeping my mouth shut."
After the game, everyone quietly left the arena.
