Canadian Government Recognizes Inter-Species and Same-Species Marriages
Friday, August 8, 2003 - North Bay, Ontario
In a startling move this week, the Canadian Government threw its support behind the United Federation of Planets (UFP) Inter-Species Marriage Resolution, C-8675-309.
By becoming a signatory to the resolution, marriages by immigrant Canadians of non-earth origin, either to each other, or to humans, are recognized in law the same as a regular human-human marriages.
"This is one small step for humankind and one giant leap for intergalactic love," Foreign Affairs Minister Bill Graham was quoted as saying, by telephone while on a short Carribean vacation away from both politics and his opposite-sex human marriage partner.
Canada joins Belgium, Finland, and The Netherlands in this action.
France is also expected to throw its support behind the resolution, once its 472-day general strike finally comes to an end.
